Katelyn Sonnier was born and raised in Eunice, Louisiana. After spending some time in Kentucky, Katelyn took a leap of faith and followed her heart to Mandeville where she has lived since 2020.
She loves the thriving community she has found on the Northshore, and she enjoys meeting new people and fostering meaningful relationships with those in her “tribe”. Katelyn has practiced yoga since 2009, and in 2014 she completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Radically Rooted in Lexington, KY with a focus on fascia release and technique. She went on to complete a 75- hour certification in yoga and Ayurveda – “Ayurveda on the Mat” – in Cincinnati, OH. In dealing with her own health challenges, Katelyn found the ancient science of Ayurveda to be invaluable in healing her body. After experiencing firsthand how an Ayurvedic lifestyle can enhance one’s life, Katelyn felt called to study Ayurveda – the world’s oldest health science system and sister science of yoga based on the mind-body connection – so she could reconceptualize this ancient knowledge for a modern audience. Katelyn completed has a B.S in Ayurvedic Wellness from the Maharishi International University, and she also holds a certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Katelyn has studied with famed author, speaker, and global messenger for Ayurveda: Sahara Rose Ketabi. As a certified Ayurvedic Wellness Consultant, Katelyn’s vision is to join Eastern and Western philosophies and techniques to make a holistic approach to health and wellbeing accessible for her clients.
Currently, Katelyn teaches yoga at Just Breathe Yoga in Old Mandeville, where she hosts several urban retreats, workshops, and youth retreats throughout the year that feature Ayurveda.
She oversees the Ayurveda component of the Breathe Deeper Yoga Teacher Training curriculum, and she works with numerous private clients- helping them integrate Ayurveda into their lifestyles. Katelyn lives in Mandeville with her cosmic kitty, Luna.
