FEMALE RAINBOW RETREAT
Authentic Movement – Yoga – Expressive Arts

In a few words
My name is Maria and I am the facilitator of the Authentic Movement SF activities.

I have dedicated my life to uncovering and loving all parts of myself, to healing my relationship to my femininity and my body, and to honoring my identity as a woman.

In the Female Rainbow Retreat I am sharing with you the knowledge, tools, experiences that helped my journey of transformation.
In this retreat, together we create the healing space to facilitate your own transformation.

The secret is strengthening the connection to your body, to your essence and to your Self as a woman, so that you manifest a life full of well-being, gratitude and love. Our spiritual guides are the inner archetypes of the Greek Goddesses that can reveal intimate truths about ourselves.

As you expand your awareness through Authentic Movement, Yoga, expressive art activities, and connecting with nature, you deepen your trust in your heart and in life. As a result, you become more open to receive all the richness that life has to offer you. Participating in the retreat will help you: embrace all aspects of your female identity heal your relationship with your femininity and your body and deepen the love for yourself as the multifaceted woman that you are.

I look forward to have this transformational experience with you!

Location
Rejuvenate in the Mediterranean
Paros is a Greek island in the Aegean Sea best known for its beaches and Ms. Maria’s traditional pastry.
Combining modern with traditional elements in the most unique way, Paros is a mix of traditional Cycladic architecture, vivid nightlife, magical beaches, enchanting rural villages, and historical monuments.
The Okreblue Seaside Yoga Retreat Center in Paros, was created with love and care, for like-minded people to gather, practice and share yoga and other spiritual and self-exploratory practices.

Coming to Okreblue you really get the essence of arriving to someone’s home.
I personally visited Okreblue last summer to make sure you feel the warmth of true authentic Greek hospitality.

Reground
Every morning we start our day with a sunrise meditation and a yin yoga practice to reground in our essence.
Let the sounds of the Mediterranean sea expand your awareness and connect with your inner center.
After the workshops there is plenty of free time to enjoy the beach, get to know the island of Paros or relax by receiving a massage.

Reveal
Every day we have two 3h workshops , each one dedicated to one of the Greek Goddesses.
We read and reflect upon their myth to get familiar and be inspired by their symbols and images.

Playing with a variety of art materials that include drawing, creating with collage and clay, you deepen your connection to their multifaceted qualities.
We use embodied explorations and Authentic Movement, creating a safe, non-judgemental space where you are free to move and listen to your body’s wisdom.
This way you open yourself to receive the insights and understandings that each archetype reveals for your healing and growth.

Emerge
Our last day is dedicated to revisiting and integrating all moments of our journey together.
There is time to enter the creative flow and become the artists and directors of your lived experience.
You will be delighted by the wisdom, beauty and creativity that is hidden in your soul, ready to guide your life in more plenty and wholehearted ways.
Our sacred circle is the loving holding space that welcomes each one of the women to emerge and share their unique experience.
All together we celebrate our colorful, multifaceted female rainbow.

One-Day Excursion
During the retreat we have a one day excursion to visit the islands of Delos and Mykonos.
Delos was one of the most sacred places of ancient Greece. The archeological site on the island is the remains of a sanctuary to the gods Apollo and Artemis. The on-site museum has one of the finest collections of ancient Greek sculpture.
As the birthplace of Artemis and Apollo, Delos is the ideal place to have an embodied feeling of the Greek Archetypes’ power.
Famous for its minimal Cycladic architecture, Mykonos is full of traditional whitewashed houses and blue domed churches. There you will have the opportunity to have lunch and treat yourself to some local Aegean specialties!

Maria Letzou

My whole life has been a ceaseless journey, not only because I have lived in 3 continents, 5 countries, 7 cities, and 20 houses, but also because I am a constant soul seeker. I love journeying within, and dive into the depths of my soul, to bring light into my shadow and discover uncomfortable quirks and hidden gems that make for a plentiful life.

However my journey hasn’t always been easy…

While becoming a licensed psychologist in Greece (2004) I struggled with bulimia, depression, body hatred, insecurities, and extremely low self esteem. Feeling confused, disconnected, alienated and lonely, I felt I had no choice but to “run away” from my homeland.
There was no satisfying space to take care of my wounds, and I was unwilling to fit in any box that familiar and societal norms suggested. Every moment we are flooded with messages, what we should do, how we should be and behave, how we are expected to feel or not feel, how we are supposed to look. I needed to find my own voice and truth.
I want to understand and accept who I am, including both my flaws and strengths.
I want to discover and validate my worth as an identified woman.
I want to have a respectful relationship with myself, my body and others.
I want to find peace and a loving home within myself and my body.

Looking for healing I traveled to Buenos Aires (2005), where I discovered the discipline of Authentic Movement (2008) at The Center for Practice and Training in Authentic Movement.
Fearful and rigid at the beginning, I progressively softened and gained trust into the unknown of this practice in which no one tells me what to do and finally I can just be.

For 4 consecutive years I am a mover, weekly and in intensives, for my own healing journey, and everything starts to transmute. I slowly connect with my body, I listen to my needs, I respect my wounds, I trust my intuition, I gain confidence. My creativity awakes, first in private and soon in my social life I facilitate workshops on self-development through storytelling and art-making, for children and adults.
The whole process is a rebirth but soon I have to leave the womb again, only now not running from my pain, but moving toward myself.

On 2012, I moved to Peru to work as a psychotherapist at the rehabilitation center Takiwasi where I continued my inner journey, and spiritual growth, with the support of medicinal plants. Here is where I discovered how important it is to integrate a spiritual dimension into any psychotherapeutic approach in order to find healing.
Finally, I landed in San Francisco (2014) to complete my MA in Expressive Arts Therapy (2017) at CIIS and to integrate my multiple facets in one identity, the one I define as a play-art-terra-pist@

In my new home I am an interdisciplinary performance artist involved at the Red Poppy Art House,

I work as an Associate MFT for the Child Therapy Institute, and I am founder of the Authentic Movement SF, where I facilitate individual sessions, groups, workshops, and retreats in the practice of Authentic Movement.

Through my everyday life, my work, and my art:
I inspire women to deepen self-love through self-validation and acceptance.
I create space for kids, women, and men to discover and express their own unique creative voice and fulfill their desires.
I coach adults to become responsible for their inner child and be respectful to our children so that we all become co-creators of a more loving world.

Now, I am committed to creating a community of movers, so that we can dive together to discover the symbols of our psyches, that guide the endless journey of our souls.
The wisdom of our souls is rooted in our bodies, waiting to emerge, because now the world needs the power of our true gifts more than ever.
And deep inside of us we always know what we really want to live a meaningful life.
