Firooza’s yoga journey in 1975 under the guidance of Father Joe Pereira, who, after two years, encouraged her to study intensively with the extraordinary Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar. She later deepened her practice under Geeta and Prashant Iyengar. Since 1980, she has been a dedicated teacher at The Light on Yoga Research Trust in Mumbai, India.
Her passion for yoga sparked a deeper intellectual pursuit, leading her to earn a
Master’s in Philosophy in 1982. Since then, she has been teaching philosophy to undergraduates. Her deep understanding of Indian philosophy, combined with
decades of dedicated yoga practice, brings an exceptional depth and insight to her teaching. This unique fusion provides a strong philosophical and applied foundation, enhancing the experience of her students and offering them a profound connection between philosophy, holistic wellbeing and the practice of yoga.
Expanding her reach beyond India in 2006, Firooza has cultivated a devoted
international following, guiding students across the UK, USA, South Africa, and
Europe. Renowned for her wisdom, warmth and insightful approach, she continues to inspire and enrich practitioners worldwide, deepening their connection to yoga both philosophically and experientially.
